LIFT For Teens - Promoting Youth and Family Wellness in Low-Income Communities

About Us

LIFT's capacity to achieve its goals rests on its close collaboration with county and community resources, its research-based, proven operational model, and the extensive experience of its Directors and Advisors, many of whom are recognized leaders in the fields of pediatric nutrition, health and prevention; strategic planning and finance; and program development, delivery and evaluation.

Values

LIFT is dedicated to:

  • Positive child and family outcomes.
  • Each participant matters to someone in our organization.
  • Our staff being passionate, dedicated and committed to their own personal growth and enjoy being positive role models.

Goals

To provide a variety of experiences and an atmosphere that motivates children, teens, and their families to:

  • Make healthy choices about what they eat and how they behave.
  • Achieve wellness by becoming healthy, strong and fit.
  • Develop self-confidence and a positive self-image.

Focus

Children, teens and families who:

  • Are at-risk, overweight, obese or not fit.
  • Face tougher cultural, social and economic challenges than their peers.
  • Have little or no access to qualified resources.

Community

LIFT/Levántate! will contribute to community wellness by leveraging our mentor-family relationships to refer participants without adequate health insurance for enrollment in the Children's Health Initiative. CHI is dedicated to ensuring that every child in our state has affordable health insurance so they can grow up healthy and strong.

LIFT could not do the important work we do without our outstanding and distinguished Directors and Advisors. Read about our Board of Directors here, and our Advisory Board here.

Testimonials

"I am a single mother of an overweight teen. At 17 years of age, she weighs over 200 lbs. Frankly, my daughter's condition is alarming, her sense of denial is profound and I feel helpless in any of my efforts to facilitate change for her. I was excited to learn that there was such an organization as yours."
--Karen B., Petaluma, CA
