LIFT - Levántate Programs

BeforeSchool/InSchool/AfterSchool programs: Focusing on life skills development, gardening, nutrition, farm to table education/field trips, non-competitive/non-skill based physical activities like Zumba, yoga, soccer, Soul Chi, hikes, Family Wellness events and community residents as program staff:

 
•Community Action Marin Child Development Programs: LIFT provides weekly multi-cultural afterschool program for low income K-5 Latino, African-American, Asian and students from other cultures in Marin City


•Marin City Middle School: LIFT provides weekly afterschool program for low income African-American middle school students in grades 6-8


•Women Helping All People Academy: Weekly in-school nutrition program for low income African-American students grades 3-8 in a public housing charter school.


•Canal Alliance: Weekly bi-lingual afterschool program for high risk, low income Latino middle/high school students from the Canal area of San Rafael


•Marin Oaks Continuation High school physical activity program offering soccer, yoga, Zuma, Turbo-Kickboxing, cooking and nutrition


•Levántate Girls Running program for at-risk/high-risk teen girls throughout Marin County

Summer Programs

•SummerBridge/Kinder Academy: Countywide program funded by First 5 for low income children/families entering kindergarten without benefit of pre-school 


•Pullman Point for low income African-American children in public housing


•Marin City Summer Camp program for low income African-American children

Intern Leadership/Mentoring 
•Marin Advocates for Children contract to provide mentoring for court protected teens 


•Bay area high school students in school-to-career internships 


•Graduate/undergraduate students from Stanford, Dominican, Indiana, Berkeley, Yale, Cal State 


•Community Diabetes Project bi-lingual community health internships

•Marin City Intergenerational Community Gardens 


•Community Action Marin Afterschool gardens


•Marin Oaks Continuation High School garden in Novato

Interactive Workshops 
•Latino Family Wellness workshops in the Canal and San Fernando, delivered in Spanish, that include nutrition demos and puppet shows, fun physical activities, diabetes discussions, life skills mentoring


•Crossroads Family workshops in partnership with Marin Academy to provide engaging health and wellness experiences and activities for low income Latino youth and their families


•Prevencion Ahora: Series of bi-lingual workshops for low income Latino families at high risk for Type 2 diabetes. Program delivered in collaboration with Sutter, Kaiser, Marin Community Clinics and Novato Community Hospital. 


•Peer Summit: Countywide teen leadership event that incorporates peer-developed workshops


•Champions For Change: Monthly bi-lingual workshops focusing on physical activity/healthy nutrition for low income Latino families in partnership with Marin Department of Public Health, Prevention Services Program. 


•Children's Hospital Oakland, Center For the Vulnerable Child: Workshop for foster parents of court protected youth in Contra Costa County focusing on proper nutrition and establishing effective communication with youth 

Train The Trainer 
•Low income community residents recruited/trained as Program Coaches to deliver LIFT model during and beyond LIFT program days 


•Promotoras: Multi-lingual, multi-cultural Community Health Advocates trained to advocate for healthy lifestyles in their communities

•LIFT hosting the first World Diabetes Day Bay Area-wide celebration 


•Marin City Farm Gleaning and Community Food Giveaway


•Jr Giants Nutritional FunFest for 1200 low income children
